Orchid’s Caribbean Kitchen

I am a simple, uncomplicated, and straight forward person who loves food and people. I enjoy the look on peoples’ faces when they eat my food. I’m not a chef, but I’ve always been fascinated with food. I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica from a family of 8, 6 girls and 2 boys, with our mom and dad. I used to watch my older sister and mother cooking, or they would have me in the kitchen doing something with them. I used to get upset, but later I realized I loved cooking. As I got older, I started trying different foods on my own. One of my dreams was to attend culinary school, but I attended Fashion school instead, thought that was my passion… but then real life happened. I have many years of experience working with different event companies, restaurants, doing parties, BBQ and picnics my own. I strive to provide wholesome authentic Jamaican cuisines for a flavorful experience to take you to the Island. As I’ve said, “You don’t need a vacation to Taste the Caribbean”

Orchid cooks, bakes, sings and plans events, give me a theme and I will make it happen. Cooking is my passion. I’ve always choose to use quality ingredients; I get the most tantalizing feeling to see it all come together and the look on people’s faces. I would love to travel around the World to taste different food and cook with local people. Thinking of food excites me. I’m always planning what’s next. I enjoy a great party, music, love to laugh, romantic movies, love the beach, like waking up to the of birds and blowing leaves on the trees. Oh, when I cook, I sing it gives me such an awesome feeling. Because of my love for food and people, it took me to this Province of New Brunswick, looking for amazing Lobster to eat and found my home here in Beautiful New Brunswick.

Moving to New Brunswick I’ve found the most amazing warm, kind, friendly, and neighborly people you can ever imagine. They’re all so pleasant and willing to give you a helping hand. I signed up for the Bouctouche Market, suggested by a family member, and met an amazing lady Rachelle Richard-Collette. Never would I thought meeting her would have allowed me the opportunity to become a vendor at the Bouctouche Market. I started in Oct and was there till the closed date of Dec 4th. I am looking forward to next season, bigger things to come. Rachelle made sure I wasn’t just there at the market as a vendor, she introduced me to the locals, vendors anyone she thought I needed to meet. I felt at home there and I can honestly say it’s like one big family very supportive and amazing group of people. As a vendor at the Bouctouche market you always purchased things local sourcing the best local farm fresh meats, fruits, and vegetables, it’s always best to shop locally. It strengthens each other and helps the community grow stronger. With all my heart and abundance of love and respect I credit this to Rachelle, Thank you! My mother always says….“Never forget where you’re coming from”

Special thanks to my family and friends that were there to help and support me at the market, I sincerely appreciate all the help from each and everyone of you.
